Mobilise 2012 – talks now online

Mobilise 2012 - The Rescue

“Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.” – Jesus, Mark 16:15

The 2012 Mobilise conference saw 1100 students and twenties gather for a stirring week of mission-focussed teaching and worship in Prestatyn this April. Under the theme of ‘The Rescue’, speakers including Tom Shaw, Adrian Holloway and Mike Betts spoke boldly on the challenges facing all of us as we choose to follow the great commission in our lives.

Talks from the conference are now online and available to listen or download for free – please do make use of this resource. For more information on the conference or ways you can be involved in church planting or mission in Lowestoft, just get in touch.

Prayer Breakfasts

Coffee? Check.

Croissants? Check.

A group of friends seeking God? Check!

What better way to start the day? It’s why we run our prayer breakfasts, fuelling our church life as a group of us gather to seek God for one another and the town.

Every Friday over the next ten weeks, we’ll be meeting at 6.45am at The Depot. We pray together until 8am, and then stick the kettle on. So why not pop along, join us in prayer, and start your weekend with an ‘Amen’?

This terms prayer breakfasts will be for 10 weeks Friday 27th April until Friday 29th June.

Sunday Services

Starting in February and running as the foundational topic throughout the rest of the year, our theme for Sunday mornings during 2012 will be ”One God, One Plan’ following God’s plan of redemption through both the Old and New Testaments.

Each week we will work through themes in the bible to show God’s big picture and how everything points to the cross and to Jesus and to the salvation God offers through him and him alone.

If you would like to come along and join us it would be great to see and welcome you, we meet at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. every Sunday at The Depot

Everything conference

Being people made in the image of God does not simply set an agenda for church meetings, but calls us in every aspect of our lives. This call will look different for each of us, as we are each uniquely created as individuals with different skills, gifts and interests, but the truth is that God is interested in all that we do! This includes our work, relationships, neighbourhoods, homes and hobbies. Psalm 24:1 says ‘The Earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it’ – there is beauty and purpose in all that God has made.

Whether your thing is art, technology, business or politics; whether you feel a call to influence national culture or to simply be salt and light in your own situation, the Everything conference is geared for those with a passion that their walk with Christ is more than just theology. This can be applicable to everyone, whatever your situation or character!

This year’s Everything conference builds on the momentum of last year’s by welcoming Andy Crouch – author of Culture Making – as keynote speaker at the one-day event in London on Saturday 26th March 2011, which is open to everybody to attend.

Ephesians – The Love Revelation

We’re excited to announce the start of a new preaching series here at Lowestoft Community Church. From January, our Sunday mornings will be spent opening up the New Testament book of Ephesians.

Ephesians - the love revelation

Ephesians was once described by Samuel Taylor Coleridge as “the divinest composition of man”.  In this teaching series we are looking to dig deep into the profound truths about God that Ephesians contains, and discover that the revelation of God’s love that it brings is truly life changing.

As usual, all preaches in the series will be available to download for free online. The first ones are already up! But if you’re able to make it, we’d love to welcome you along to our weekly meetings to hear them in the flesh. So why not join us on Sunday mornings, 9am and 11am, and experience this Love Revelation?

Website updates and new ways to connect

Lowestoft Community Church’s website is intended as a valuable tool for the church. We aim for it to provide quick access to information such as service times, location, and contact details. We also want visitors to have easy access to our free library of teaching. And we’d like to be using it to provide up-to-date news of exactly what’s going on with the church, along with all the other background information about who and what we are that you’d expect.

With this in mind, we’re hoping to be making a number of updates to the site over the coming month. We thank you for your patience as these are going on. If you have any feedback at any point, please feel free to email jackiekinney@lcc-lowestoft.co.uk

In the meantime though, we’re pleased to announce two exciting new ways for you to stay up-to-date with the church starting now! Lowestoft Community Church is now linked in with Facebook and Twitter…so if you use either (or both) of these services then please do follow us to get the latest updates straight through to your feed.

You’ll find us on Facebook here, and on Twitter @lcclowestoft

Christmas

Just a reminder of our service plans over Christmas.

On Sunday 26th December (Boxing Day), and Sunday 2nd January, we will only be holding one service in the morning, 10am at The Depot. It’ll be a great chance to all join together!

From Sunday 9th January onwards, we’ll revert back to our 9am and 11am twin services.

Have a great Christmas!

Christmas Appeal 2010

Christmas is a time of justice. God hates oppression, and Jesus came to earth to help those in need who could not help themselves. It’s a principle that resonates with all of us, and one that’s important to remember this time of year.

Last Christmas, we were able to raise £10,000 in our appeal to help the poor in Kenya. Through the churches we are linked with there, the money has helped set up fish farms and grain stores, allowing people in the Mount Kenya region the dignity of working and providing for themselves. Mike Betts was able to visit the projects whilst working with the churches in Kenya this year, the short video below gives and idea of just how your money has been spent.

This year we are again raising money for this work in Kenya, to fund further fish farms and grain stores as part of a continued relationship with the churches there. If you would like to donate to the appeal, please send cheques payable to ‘Lowestoft Community Church’ to
